Installing RiskScape[edit]
Uninstall old versions of RiskScape before starting the installation[edit]
These instructions work for versions: 1.0.2, 1.0.3
Start the Installation - Windows[edit]
Run the .exe file to begin installation Navigate to the executable file in windows explorer and double click on the .exe file, and click on “Run” to start the installation
- You may need to navigate to the default "downloads" directory or view downloads from your browser.
- You may have security warnings, Allow the program to continue.
The RiskScape banner will show as the installer loads
Click Next to install RiskScape
Read the terms of use and Click "I Agree"
Click Save to accept the Installation directory location or Browse to change it
- Installation directory selection at setup: it's best to accept the suggestion of workspace for windows. If not; the uninstaller won't know where to look to remove files.
The Green bar indicates the download progress
Click "Finish" to exit the installer.
When you open RiskScape for the first time you will be prompted:
- for a workspace location (this is where layers will be stored)
- for your username and password. (If you already have a username and password enter them here or see Registration
After these two steps RiskScape is ready to use.
Start the Installation - Linux[edit]
1. download the .run file from the riskscape website>get RiskScape page
2. do a chmod +x RiskScape##.run (on the version you have downloaded) (in shell terminal)
3. double click the .run file and follow the prompts to install
Registration[edit]
For your first log in set up your registration by clicking "Create Account"
Fill in all the fields with appropriate values and click "OK"
- Hover over any field to get information
"Email confirmation sent" message is displayed. Click OK - this will take you back to the login dialog
Check your email inbox and open the email from "support". Click the link to activate your new account. The link will open your browser and display a thank you message.
*Note: you can activate your account from a different computer to the one you are running RiskScape on. Once you have activated your account, you can log into RiskScape and run it anywhere it is installed.
You are now able to enter your username and password in the login dialog and click "OK". RiskScape is now ready to use.

Uninstalling[edit]
Windows OS[edit]
Find the uninstaller in the start menu under Programs >> RiskScape folder and select Uninstall RiskScape-1.0.2
Important: Select "allow this file" to allow the uninstaller to run
Follow the prompts
selecting yes to Remove personal settings will not remove your layers and scenarios from the workspace
Linux OS[edit]
To uninstall RiskScape on a Linux machine it is ok to simply remove the folder from your installation directory. You would have chosen this directory at the time of installation (you might have installed it in /home for example). Please go to the folder above the RiskScape folder (RISKCAPEFOLDERNAME) and use >rm -rf RISKCAPEFOLDERNAME to remove the folder (recursively).
Mac[edit]
Use the folder browser interface to navigate to the folder containing the RiskScape installation. Delete the RiskScape## installation folder.
Check your rsworkspace folder[edit]
You will want to check your rsworkspace folder aswell: 1.that you have removed any old RiskScape modules or layers from this folder (these will need to be downloaded again with the new versions of each one from the repository in the new version)
2. you can keep your old scenarios but these may not work correctly with the new version due to changes in the underlying layers.
3. any self-made layers (eg. hazard layers that you have made) can be kept and converted to the new version using the converter tool in the new version. Please see the wiki for more info on this.
